How Do We Talk About Issues That Matter?
In the time period that we are in, it is important to talk about controversial issues, because they matter. Like the issues we read about in history books, the issues that we face now, will become a part of a history book, so they can be taught to the future generation to come. When we talk about these issues, we are allowing them to matter, it is also giving each of us time to learn and think about making a difference to help be the change. Every issue matters because we are the humans who have either created it or are affected by it, which is why it is important for us to find a common ground to discuss these issues. It overall truly matters how we go about sparking this conversation, it has to be in a spirit of open-mindedness to other opinions. You have to come to that conversation, expecting to hear another side of the issue, and not just your own, so that you can have a chance to extend your understanding.
